The allure of the early morning sun and the Soca-fueled, water-soaked breakfast party returns to Chaguaramas this weekend as the eighth edition of the ever popular “iUP” event takes place this Sunday morning from 3 am.
“We want to welcome all our loyal iUP patrons back to the fun combination of Soca, Water and Sunrise,” said iUP Logistics Engineer, Shawn Wong.” He said the event will be staged at an all new venue on the eastern side of the spacious Five Islands Water park, explaining that this would allow patrons to greet the sun, enjoy the water safely with a lot of Soca to keep patrons in motion.
Bunji Garlin will be headlining the cast with strategic support coming from the Voice of the next generation, Aaron St Louis. Additionally, Nailah Blackman along with St Vincent’s Skinny Fabulous, as well as Shal Marshall, are booked to bring the vibes. Also making up the cast will be Viking Ding Dong, Sekon Sta and Jaiga.
“We always assemble a stellar cast to entertain the iUP faithful,” said iUp Conceptualizer, Benny Hatem. “This year, as we return from two years of lockdown and curfews, we wanted to ensure that we created a soundtrack that would help to release all the built-up tension and stress,” said Hatem. Water, a staple to iUP, the Boss, Neil Iwer George has been contracted to do what he does best. “I always up and I always bring the energy to wake the people up,” said the artist. “Whether they need water or beer, I am bringing both to iUP, so the people can stay hydrated and join me in a true Soca sunrise celebration.”
Secure parking will be available for all patrons at Pier II , with just a short walk over the bridge to the iUP venue. There’ll also be breakfast on sale inside the venue, along with ice, chasers and your favorite drinks should coolers run dry.
