Several of Trinidad and Tobago’s top tiered artistes will be a part of a Hybrid Soca EP that’s being delivered by Jamaican dancehall star, Shaggy. The international superstar let the cat out the bag this past Tuesday.

Shaggy will hit the stage at IZWE, a production of Kees Diffenthaller and his team, on February 14th, in South Trinidad. The pair have collaborated on a single called, “Mood,” which gave Shaggy the idea to do the EP. The song will be the first on the extended play record, which will also feature musical collaborations with Patrice Roberts, Bunji Garlin and St. Vincent’s Skinny Fabulous.

On Tuesday, the artiste who is considered one of Jamaica’s most commercially successful artistes, said he believes Hybrid Soca is marketable internationally, explaining that no music, in its most authentic form has traditionally broken into international markets.

Shaggy’s words come on the heels of an expression by dancehall artist, Bounty Killa, in December indicating that he felt Soca music would be bigger than dancehall in years to come.
