Countless hit singles and an authentic charisma that makes us all know that Blaxx is one of the real ones, is enough for us to fight to ensure that he stays with us much longer. In fact, so impassioned is artiste and DJ, Dawg E Slaughter about ailing entertainer Dexter ‘Blaxx’ Stewart’s medical condition that he has started an effort to help cover medical expenses for the ‘Breathless’ singer.

Blaxx has reportedly been ailing for approximately three weeks. It is understood that he has suffered kidney complications but is steadily recovering. EBUZZTT was unable to speak directly with the artist, however persons close to him explained that he is resting and recuperating.

When news emerged that Blaxx was ill, Dawg E Slaughter jumped into action, first requesting the artist’s permission before spearheading a drive to generate funds from fans and anyone who felt compelled to contribute in anyway that they could. Bank account information was shared and reposted by artistes like Destra Garcia and Shurwayne Winchester. The effort however became a talking point among some on social media who began questioning why the artiste should be assisted when “soca artistes make their millions.” Utterances like this one, and others of similar expression has led to much hurt by some members of the Soca industry. One artist, speaking on the condition of anonymity told Ebuzztt that it’s sad that the general public continuously chooses to condemn Soca artistes, when in reality, their perceptions of soca music’s creators are far from the truth.

With the exception of Soca’s veteran heavyweight, Machel Montano and a few others, the soca music industry’s contributors, according the artist, have struggled for years and now, with the pandemic, the savings of those who may have managed to save, could be exhausted. “Nobody is working and everyone of us have families, just like everybody else,” expressed the entertainer.
