Following and exclusive announcement with Billboard Magazine, internationally acclaimed dancehall superstar Masicka releases his highly anticipated new EP, Her Name Is Love, available now via Def Jam Recordings. According to a media release, the eight-track project marks a striking evolution in Masicka’s artistry. It offers a layered exploration of love, intimacy, vulnerability, and emotional balance, without sacrificing the lyrical precision and authority that define his sound.
Her Name Is Love is not a collaboration project, but a curated body of work inspired by women and emotional connection, presenting love as discipline, strength, and self-awareness rather than fragility. Across the EP, Masicka navigates desire, devotion, loss, trust, and triumph, blending melodic delivery with sharp storytelling over polished, modern dancehall production.

In a recent interview with Billboard Magazine Masicka shared “Her Name is Love is really me tapping into another dimension of who I am, not stepping away from the grit, but showing that there’s more to the man behind the music. The ladies always support my work, and I wanted to create something that speaks directly to them, their stories, their strength, their emotions and the energy they bring to the culture. This EP is about connection, emotion and the different forms love can take”
The release is accompanied by exclusive EP imagery narration via OkayPlayer, a visual extension of the music that asks the question: what does love look like if it had a physical form? Through composed, cinematic imagery, Masicka presents love as calm yet intense, tender yet unbreakable – mirroring the emotional depth of the songs themselves. The visuals reflect introspection, restraint, and growth, reinforcing the EP’s central theme of love as balance rather than performance.
From the hypnotic rhythms of “Whine All Night” to the emotional resonance of “Lifetime” and the introspective honesty of “Keys,” the EP captures Masicka in a reflective space, showing range and maturity while remaining firmly rooted in dancehall’s core.

With Her Name Is Love, Masicka continues to redefine expectations, challenging traditional narratives around masculinity and emotional expression in dancehall while expanding his global reach. The EP stands as both a personal statement and a cultural moment, one that underscores growth, intention, and artistic evolution.
An industry isn’t built on emotion; It’s built on intentional action. Macoy- an artiste in Trinidad and Tobago known by many simply as Chynee, has figured it out.
In 2026, after tremendous dedication and admittedly, steady growth, the artiste will unleash his first album. It will be followed up by another, and yet another. His plan is simple – feed the world the music and creativity, and show the top tier, international organizations the dedication that exists in these parts. Presently riding the wave of success with a seasonal Christmas song dubbed, ‘Lopinot,’ the entertainer says he’s made inroads into advertising and merchandizing through purposeful collaboration and community.
Chynee has been a part of the entertainment landscape in the Caribbean for many years. His name reminds many of the Synergy Soca Star competition, which he won in 2009, but these days his ambitions are greater, and his thirst to engage real supporters, is strong. “I have been making an effort to even connect with people from my past and build that strong community, because the aim is to eventually engage with intimate showcases and events,” said the artiste. He says he is tremendously grateful for the opportunities offered by a local comedian and friend who allowed him to share her platform in 2025. “She booked out various locations and her following would come out to the events and listen to the comedy, and I was able to be a part of that. I am so grateful for the opportunities.” As a direct result of that connection, Chynee performed for audiences in Port-of- Spain, San Fernando, Chaguanas and Chaguaramas this year, proving that the cross-pollination of the creative sector can certainly be beneficial to all involved.
Offer Versatility Like Busy Singal.
While T&T’s carnival is the focus to most at this time, the outlook is broader for Chynee and his team of dedicated creatives. Jamaica’s Busy Signal is one of his favourite artistes and he says his aim is to offer versatility, much like Busy. “The album will feature between 10 and 15 singles and range from Soca to Afrobeat and even reggae and dancehall with the possibility of collaborative singles.”
His Chainlinxx Productions family has supported him over the past seven years, he admits with gratitude, and adds that the inclusion of graphic artiste and producer, Timothy Bootan – a long-time friend, has been a blessing. “My years of experience in music has taught me the importance of a team and access to necessary resources. Added to the people I’ve mentioned, I’ve had the privilege of working with Unique Productions and AKUA Limited for my video production. If our country wants to invest in the creative sector, I think it’s important for creatives to have easier access to resources that aid in music engineering, visuals and even marketing and promotion, at a subsidized cost,” suggested the artiste, adding that harnessing all creative talent and placing resources that can be easily accessed in various districts, would essentially aid in building the sector and in the long term, building Trinidad and Tobago’s creative identity for global recognition and potential investment.
Partnerships and collaborations in music and business, the ultimate cheat code to present-day dynamics, Chynee is eager to push into 2026 with the people who’ve stood with him and supported his music. He is proud of his growth, having turned constructive criticism into favour. “I’ve been growing as an artiste, and I’ve been trying to do better material. I’ve listened to the people around me who encouraged me to really show off my vocal ability, which I’ve been doing and it’s been beneficial.”
Building Valuable Partnerships.
This year, Macoy sealed a partnership with Bhagwansingh’s Hardware – a leading hardware in Trinidad and Tobago, having delivered a jingle from his Christmas release, ‘Lopinot’ for the company’s Christmas promotion. “This opens up a lot of opportunities for my music to be heard because the jingle was based off the song. This has really motivated me to push my music in this direction as well, by engaging businesses that are looking for jingles and promotions,” he admitted. Similarly, the artiste has teamed up with Black Hat Designs to promote their inspiring children’s book centred on the concept of paying it forward. Proudly a son of the soil, Macoy fully supports the project’s local roots, noting that the book was designed, written, and printed right here at home. “We also have an upcoming pocket-sized book for adults that focuses on personal reflection, and I’m excited to be a part of that journey as well,” he shared. The collaboration highlights a shared commitment to building community and championing national pride.
Eager to further his brand, and his team’s efforts in music and creativity, Chynee is ready for the year ahead. A Soca track released called, ‘Birds of a Feather,’ encourages the celebration of life and friendship and just like the song says, he happily celebrates those around him who’ve never wavered in their support, knowing that he has always had just what it takes. “I’m on Instagram @macoy_aka_chynee and really all social media platforms- TikTok, and Facebook.

Unmistakably, he’s next in line to claim major space in the Soca music industry and he’s already got a title to his name. Sucre is Trinidad and Tobago’s Youth Soca Champion and as the year winds down, the Zig Boi Music Group artiste, is preparing for bigger outcomes in 2026.

A new song released with varied formats for consumption across demographics set to be unleashed soon, the work is being done by both the artiste and his team, to ensure success. “Even before he entered the Ultimate Soca Champions competition, Sucre had been involved in a steady development program,” explained Zig Boi Music Group CEO, Mr. Spine. Years in the music industry in Trinidad and Tobago, across the region and internationally, has afforded the music producer a vantage point that has proven extremely helpful.
Sucre, whose full name is Nkosi Sucre, has been under Spine’s guidance for the past two years and already, the partnership has proven successful. “The development programme with Sucre saw us expose him to events, take him into the studio and engage in networking, all while working on unreleased music, during the first year,” said Spine. He explained that in his second year with Zig Boi, Sucre enrolled with the band Traffic and was exposed to band life and the sonics in a band room environment. “Traffic is a legendary band, however the aim was to engage a younger audience and the decision was made to form the Evolution Band – a youth centred band that represents the younger demographic when it comes to music and entertainment.”

Spine recalls that the announcement of the Soca Champions competition was unexpected, lamenting the fact that for many youths, there had been no outlet for stage development in the Soca industry in T&T, since the International Soca Monarch competition. “It was a great place to have him test his ability and he went on to win the competition,” Spine said proudly. Sucre has since performed in St Maarten, opening for the Morgan Heritage Family, and now as he refocuses ahead of 2026, the 24-year-old says his aim is to continue to show youths that they can do it too. “Ten years ago, I made the decision to do music. I was 14-years-old and I showed evidence of having a natural talent for music. I went on to study music and I got onto the merit list at CAPE,” he said, revealing that his desire to hone his craft saw him go on to acquire a Music degree from the University of the West Indies.
The artiste, songwriter and producer has even been credited with a Road March win in Guyana, having worked with budding, female artiste, Omaiah Hall. “I see myself finding my sound in the medium to long term. I know I’m in my developmental stage and I’m a representation of the youth and the talent that youths have to offer. Eventually I want to provide a space for other young artistes and creatives. The aim is to create a community of people and have a new generation follow a new wave of Soca,” he declared.
The new single, ‘Gimme Wuk Darlin,’ is the second instalment to a love story started by the artiste, in 2025. The first single was called, ‘Hold on Darlin,’ and speaks to all women. When it comes to the new sound of soca music, Sucre says he believes youths must find their voice. “Times will change, perspectives on life will change. It’s a matter of finding a safe space to express yourself and just be yourself.”
Proud of his development thus far, the young Trinbago talent is looking ahead. He will re-enter the Soca Champions competition, this time competing against Blaka Dan and other artistes in the main competition. “I’m going to be looking out for Blaka Dan – the champion, but really and truly, I just want to be able to show people why I deserve that spot in the finals. I want to go out there and show my best,” he said. Plans to step foot into territories beyond the Caribbean in the year ahead, Sucre and the team at Zig Boi Music Group say they are utilizing their in-house facilities to better their product. “We’re always open to working with other people, as much as we have our in- house resources,” said Spine. Zig Boi Music commands a full-scale marketing and promotional facility, aiding artistes with graphic support, photography, video production, fashion, imaging and more. Spine said fans of good Soca music can look out for great things from Sucre, complemented by his team at Zig Boi Music, as the 2026 Carnival season comes into focus.
