Jaiga is a doting father of two beautiful girls.

Fatherhood, his most important duty, he says, Jaiga has a sick routine that would make any dead-beat dad hurl. Here’s how his day runs:

  • Wakes up at 4am.
  • Gets his elder daughter prepared to leave the house in East, Trinidad by 4:50am.
  • They both head to his job at 96.1WEFM where he starts his weekday shift.
  • His daughter gets herself dressed and he drops her off to school nearby at 7am.
  • He gets back to the radio station at 7:15am and completes his shift at 9am.
  • He takes some “me time”- training at the Hasely Crawford Stadium with some track and field guys.
  • He then heads to his office where he starts his work on “The Great 8”.
  • At 1:30pm he picks up his elder daughter and takes her to after care lessons
  • He then collects his kindergartner from school at 2:30pm and she stays in office with him where she even attends meetings- this until her mom collects her.
  • Subsequent to that he is away from home, grinding in the name of the art form that is Soca.

“I’m not one to give anyone advice on how to raise their kids,” he told Ebuzztt when confronted with the question. He says he sees his duties and what he does for and with his girls as a part of him. “I feel really good knowing that everyday I can give them some sense of continuity and some sense of good habit. Everyday I make sure my girls see me pick them up. It’s important to me. I want them to at least see me everyday. I like to know how their day went and I make the extra effort to do that because they don’t see me at night,” he explained.

He doesn’t deny that there are challenges when it comes to managing his hectic professional life and family life but quickly tells us:

“I just try my best to appreciate the fact that I am a part of their lives and I think about down the road. I think about the fact that when they are grown, I want them to understand that it is important for anyone who enters their lives to give them full respect when it comes to their time, energy and effort.”

Take a look at Jaiga in action at the studios of 96.1WEFM recently. Not only is he a pretty good radio personality but he’s got some sewing skills. Guys, take note.
