Prayer and unity. This is the response being proposed by one of Trinidad and Tobago’s entertainers, amid political chaos and continued criminal uncertainty in the twin island Republic.
On Monday, in Tobago, the Chief Secretary announced the resignation of his entire administration from the Progressive Democratic Party. This came following a weekend that saw a young couple murdered, the man having been placed in the trunk of a vehicle. Chutney Soca artist, Neval Chatelal believes the population must come together to pray for better days.
In a social media post, the two- time Chutney Soca Monarch winner extended an invitation to all of T&T, no matter race or denominational persuasion, to come together in Carapaichaima, as one people, to pray.
The entertainer’s effort has been warmly and eagerly received, with many applauding him on social media.
Neval’s invitation comes on the heels of an announcement by former Soca artist and radio personality, 5 Star Akil that he would no longer be a part of the Soca industry. In a video posted to social media on Sunday night, Akil expressed joy, having chosen to continue his life’s journey on a more spiritual path.
