Tipsy Music Festival Learns Hard Lessons; Kees and Shaggy Team Up!

Approx. 2 min read

Grammy-Award Winning, Diamond-selling, Jamaican superstar, “Shaggy” made a special guest appearance and brought out Soca star, Kees Dieffenthaller to premiere their new collaboration during the first-ever Tipsy Music Festival last weekend.

The highly anticipated event was held at the Bayfront Park in Miami, Florida. Headlined by Afrobeats megastar, Burna Boy, the Tipsy Music Festival attracted thousands to downtown Miami and included performances by Skinny Fabulous from St. Vincent, Hypasounds from Barbados, as well as Trinidad and Tobago’s own, Machel Montano, whose high-energy, nostalgic set included many of his Soca classics, as well as appearances from Voice, Farmer Nappy and Vincentian singer/songwriter, Problem Child.

The ever-popular A Team Band held their own on the big stage and backed many of the guest acts. Caribbean DJs such as Tony Mix, Deejay Puffy, Jus Jay and Travis World filled the interludes with a healthy Caribbean mix of music.

Over 10,000 patrons assembled at the location from as early as 4 pm to enjoy the acts, however it wasn’t until 10:55pm that Burna Boy made his appearance on stage. A huge ape appeared on the main screens to start a visual intro sequence and moments later, Burna came out rapping to “Science” from his impactful 2022 ‘Love Damani’ album. Fans were treated to a full hour from the African Giant as he surfed across his extensive hit catalogue and gave the assembly exactly what they came for and more.

Challenged to effectively organise all of the infrastructure necessary for such a prestigious event at the Bayfront Park venue in only 2 days time, the Tipsy Music Festival organising committee was subsequently honest and forthcoming in stating that they learnt some hard lessons.

Spokesperson, Crystal Cunningham released a statement from the Festival as follows:
