Parenting techniques differ by household and sometimes even by culture, but one fact above all, is the fact that all children need and deserve love. Soca beauty, Terri Lyons- the daughter of Austin ‘SuperBlue’ Lyons, is the mother of a handsome and intelligent little boy she finds great joy in raising. Recently, Lyons shared a few lines on social media that gave a sneak peek into how she raises her son, who she fondly refers to as ‘Afro-kid.’

“Have you ever watched your kid and be like, ‘I did that!? God gave me that?! Like WAW!,’” writes Terri. She posted a photo of she and her son dressed in blue, a colour that’s quite symbolic of their tie to the ‘SuperBlue’ legacy. Donning Afro puffs in full natural splendor, both Terri and Mathias exude an easy love that can only come with an unconditional love mindset. It’s a mother-son love too, another dynamic that for many, is impenetrable.

In her social media caption, the artist, who is a part of Nadia Batson’s band, SASS, urges parents to listen to their children and engage in conversations that could teach them. “You be quiet and listen to them, hear what they may like and not like and try to fix it cause we as parents need teaching too; and don’t be fooled, they can make you aware of what you are doing wrong,” she highlights.

Terri admits that the approach taken by parents may not always be right and encourages parents to take the time to listen to the little ones. “Trust and believe the love that child will give you, is God’s love forever,” she says.

Lyons recently traveled to the US where she performed at various events. Ahead of 2022, the artist who is well known for her incredible vocal ability, has released a single called, “Fling Bam Bam,” offering Soca lovers some much needed good vibes amid the ongoing pandemic.
