Reggae star Tarrus Riley has just released his highly anticipated single, “It’s Showtime,” produced by the renowned Dutty Rock Productions, founded by none other than Sean Paul. The track is an empowering tribute to women who are ready to take center stage, with Riley spotlighting iconic figures like Taraji P. Henson and Meagan Good.

In “It’s Showtime,” Tarrus Riley’s lyrics celebrate the strength, beauty, and confidence of women, declaring, “now it’s showtime, you are me star girl, flash light, you are the star girl inna me love life.” The single is part of the Dutty Showtime project, which reimagines the classic Showtime Riddim, originally crafted by legendary producer Dave Kelly.

Sean Paul, who co-produced the project, explains that the team made several updates to the original riddim to give it a fresh, modern vibe. “Big up to Sukku from Ward 21, News from Money Matters Entertainment, Copper Shaun, and my brother Jigzag. We all came together on this, adjusting the keys and tempo to create a new bounce. The goal is to spread a positive energy with every beat,” he shared.

The Dutty Showtime project brings together a star-studded lineup of reggae and dancehall legends, including Buju Banton, Busy Signal, Chi Ching Ching, Charley Black, and emerging artists like J’Calm, Sotto Bless, and Ras Ajai. Sean Paul himself also contributes to the project with his track “Bring It,” which merges the nostalgia of 90s dancehall with a contemporary twist.

The Showtime Riddim has been a defining force in Jamaican music for years, known for its timeless appeal and cultural impact. For Tarrus Riley, being part of this project is both a personal and professional milestone. “Growing up in the 90s, Showtime was one of my favorite riddims, definitely in my top three. It’s an amazing feeling to be part of this project and to show my appreciation to Dutty Rock for the opportunity,” Riley shared.

“It’s Showtime” by Tarrus Riley is now available on all major streaming platforms. Be sure to check out this exciting new release that celebrates the women who shine as stars in their own right.
