High, positive energy to deliver the very best he can in the year ahead. That’s what’s on the agenda for the artiste formerly known as Menace. Now under the alias, M1, the entertainer who has given the world songs like, ‘Tizick’,’Naughty’ and ‘Action’, celebrates another year of life today and as one of the most easy going entertainers who also happens to be very consistent in the Soca game, we wanted to have a quick chat with the Sangre Grande native about his ups and downs in the biz. You’ll never guess what he revealed.

M1 is working on a brand new album. He says he plans on releasing it mid-2018. As it stands, the name of the album will be ‘New Chapter, New Character’, but he admits that he’s still playing around with the title. “There’ll be some new songs on it as well as songs that people would be familiar with,” he explained, adding that one of the first songs he believes will capture the attention of the masses heading into C2K18 in Trinidad and Tobago, is a track produced by Chain Links production, called,”Wining Ruler.” M1 told us the production unit has been at his side for a long time, having produced some of his major tracks over the years. “I do a release from them, every year, so this is my first release with them and that’s my main contribution, from my team.”

The journey to this point in his music career has not been easy, he admits. He says there’ve been challenges, but to him, one of the biggest battles is ensuring that he’s consistent. “The main challenge is to keep consistent – keep coming with the material and holding my head high really, because some people could really bring you down in the industry. There are those who support you, but then there are those who really don’t want to see you make it,” he said. M1 added that the people refers to come from both within his personal life and outside, in the music industry. Amid it all though, M1 says his focus remains positively set on his music, ensuring that his styles are current and enjoyable.

“I really love this. Most of the time when I get that doubting vibes, I tend to push myself a little more.” –  M1

Jamaican dancehall heavyweight Charly Black celebrates his birthday today and he’s promising fans an exciting weekend.  The artiste, in an interview on RED 96.7FM in Trinidad this morning, said he’s chosen Trinidad to celebrate this weekend all because of his fanbase on the island of Soca. Black collaborated with Soca boss, Machel Montano in 2017 on a track that has since remained incredibly loved. That single was called, “VIP Girl.”

Charly Black has amassed global popularity. He is one of dancehall music’s leading artistes at this time.

Even as Jamaica’s carnival is in full swing and several of T&T’s soca stars are on that island, Charly told the public today that his fans in Trinidad have shown him a love that he cannot deny or turn a blind eye to. “Trinidad is my second home so at the end of the day, I always have to make sure I do the right thing. I could never leave out Trinidad.”
