His alignment with the Roy Cape All Stars is solid and as much as he has been with other bands, namely Atlantik and Blue Ventures among others, Roy Cape is home to the man whose music can only be described as music for the people.
Blaxx grew up in South Trinidad, but also resided in Morvant. He attests to having been “poor” most of his life and in a 2013 Guardian newspaper article written by Kalifa Klyne, the entertainer is quoted as saying, “I was thankful for being poor. I wish poverty could motivate people like it motivated me.”
Blaxx has been in the soca limelight for years. His name stands firmly among the industry’s well-accepted acts like Destra Garcia, Iwer George and Machel Montano. A number of songs having boosted his career to date, Blaxx, while yet to achieve any of the much touted carnival titles, has been considered a champion of the people for many years. He is usually an act that is much anticipated at the International Soca monarch competition and in 2016, he placed 3rd in a tie with Patrice Roberts, when he sang , “Master of Mas.”
15 years a part of Roy Cape and certainly a household name in the Caribbean, Dexter Blaxx Stewart is likely to keep Carnival lovers engaged for years to come. His hits have included “Breathless, “Tusty,” “Tanty Woi,” “Hunting” and “Carnival Jumbie.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row bg_type=”bg_color” css=”.vc_custom_1484621850247{margin-top: 20px !important;padding-right: 20px !important;padding-left: 20px !important;background-color: #8224e3 !important;}” bg_color_value=”#624bc7″][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]
