Machel Montano’s ninth carnival concert event, dubbed Machel Monday, pretty much delivered its normal excitement. Though dubbed, ‘The Greatest Of All Time” like his 20 track album released in late January, Montano’s previous concert events may have seen bigger acts and a more elaborate stage show.

A powerful cast that included the incomparable Calypso Rose, Cuba’s Cimafunk with his hit single, ‘Me Voy’, Teddyson John and Motto out of St. Lucia, Jamaica’s Spice and Ding Dong Ravers, T&T’s M1 and DLoxx, Grenada’s Mr. Killa, Patrice Roberts and so many other talented Caribbean entertainers, delivered to the massive crowd at the Hasely Crawford Stadium. Notably absent however, was Neil ‘Iwer’ George, who, despite being given the apology he had requested from Montano for ‘behind-the-scenes’ controversy concerning music airplay at 96.1WEFM, over the years, had made it a point not to perform at Machel Monday this year. For that, Machel publicly berated the veteran entertainer on stage, calling him out for his decision not to be a part of the show.

Carnival in Trinidad and Tobago climaxes this week. Tonight all roads lead to Kees’ Tuesday on the Rocks event being staged at The Queen’s Park Oval. Ebuzztt will bring you all that we can, in the moment.

He’s been preaching positive from the very beginning. This time around, the artiste, who was nominated for the 2018 Best Reggae Album Grammy award with, ‘A Matter of Time’, teamed up with Jamaica’s Agent Sasco and Lila Ike for what turned out to be something pretty special.

Last week, he touched down in Trinidad. He’s been making the media rounds, highlighting the new track, ‘Not Another Word’ – a song that’s come complete with the right visuals to engage. He’s no newcomer, he understands the power of visibility, the respect of social media marketing and the essence of immediate connection, but truth be told, Protoje sure wishes life were simpler.
