RnB sensation Toni Braxton was the headline act of the Tobago Jazz Experience on the weekend. Sadly, there is news following that of the sudden death of her niece, Lauren Braxton.

The songstress, who appeared at the festival’s International Night at Pigeon Point, was enjoyed by local fans who also experienced the likes of Marcia Griffith, Michael Bolton and Jacqees. There were also performances by Trinidad and Tobago Groovy Soca King, Swappi and Imij and Company, among others throughout the Jazz Experience. Sadly, Braxton’s wonderful Caribbean weekend was undoubtedly shattered when news came of her young niece’s untimely death.

Essence Magazine reports that Lauren was found unresponsive on Monday. Her father, Michael, Toni’s only brother, told reporters that the teen’s death was related to a heart condition.

According to law enforcement, paramedics were called around 12 noon on Monday. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

Along with Michael, Toni is the eldest sibling to Traci, Towanda, Trina and Tamar. The Braxton sisters are currently starring in WeTV’s Braxton Family Values where their brother Michael often makes guest appearances.
