It’s a New Year. Time to eliminate the scourge of negative news and welcome some positive vibes. Hooray! Finally, Trinidad and Tobago has been highlighted internationally for it’s awesome cultural embodiment and believe it or not, it’s not entirely based on Carnival! Popular fashion and lifestyle magazine – Vogue, has listed Trinidad and Tobago as one of The 10 Hottest Travel Destinations of 2017 – the only Caribbean country on the list.
Described as a “unique mix of wild nature and distinct culture”, T&T is considered a refreshing alternative to the typical Caribbean beach vacation. Katalina Mayorga, the trendsetting owner of El Camino Travel, was so blown away when she visited the twin island republic in 2016 that she immediately put things in place to visit again this year. The Vogue magazine feature spoke of Camino’s enjoyment of Soca music and the local cuisine.
The only Caribbean country to make the list, T&T shared its acknowledgment of hottest travel destinations with some other remote countries like Jordan, Sri Lanka, Colombia, and Oman.

Caribbean business and music superstar, Rihanna once again reminded the world of her unmatched star power, last weekend, after making a surprise appearance at Jay-Z’s highly anticipated concert in New York, on Sunday night.
The Barbadian superstar was among a host of celebrity guests in attendance as HOV celebrated his return to the stage before a sold-out crowd. The moment quickly became one of the night’s biggest talking points, with videos and photos of Rihanna circulating rapidly across social media and entertainment platforms worldwide.
Known for commanding attention wherever she goes, Rihanna’s appearance sparked an outpouring of excitement from fans across the Caribbean, many of whom took to social media to celebrate seeing one of the region’s most successful entertainers supporting her longtime friend and mentor. Rihanna’s presence, however, remained one of the standout highlights, with Caribbean fans proudly celebrating another reminder of the global influence of one of Barbados’ greatest cultural ambassadors.
While no announcement regarding new music was made, Rihanna once again demonstrated that she remains one of the entertainment industry’s most captivating figures, able to dominate headlines without even stepping up to a microphone.
