While the people of Trinidad and Tobago may be a bit crossed over what they feel is rapper Nicki Minaj’s underwhelming representation of her homeland, the St. James born internationally acclaimed hit maker is constantly soaring and as she soars, she’s subliminally making it known that she ‘ah Trini gyal’. News emerged this evening that Nicki is now officially signed to Wilhelmina- the world’s leading talent and model management agency. Nicki joins the celebrity division of the agency.

Nicki Minaj is a pioneer of style.

In a media statement issued, the model management agency’s CEO, Bill Wackermann said, “We’re thrilled to work alongside Nicki Minaj and her team. She is a style pioneer and an icon.” Minaj meanwhile has made it official on her IG page, saying she is honored to be at Wilhelmina. Fashion magazine, VOGUE broke the news tonight, tweeting the news to its followers. Minaj, whose real name is Onika Tanya Maraj will now have the backing of the agency which says it will drive her influence in the fashion and beauty space through world-class styling, editorials, carefully curated campaigns, and endorsement deals with the agency’s large global network of top clients.

“I love the synergy between my music and how it inspires my fashion,” said Nicki Minaj. “My message is always about celebrating your own style. I’m thrilled and honored to have signed with Wilhelmina. They get me.”

Earlier this week, Nicki posted a video of herself to Instagram. She captioned it :

“I did my own makeup & in between writing I looked in my camera & seen this bad ass pretty ass trini ting staring back at me. I was like yikes!”

Minaj is now the latest celebrity to add professional posing to her repertoire. It will certainly compliment her status as a six-time American Music Award winner, ten-time BET Award Winner, three-time MTV VMA winner, and ten-time Grammy Award nominee. And… don’t forget, she ‘ah Trini gyal.’

Is Angie Comin’ Back To Us? Sought After Hit Creator’s On Her Grind, Releases New Video for ‘Gettin Ova You’.

Bet you didn’t realize that Angela Hunte’s debut as an artiste, came in 2015 when she collaborated with Machel Montano on the soca track, “Party Done”. Yes. That’s when she actually started singing. Before that, the Brooklyn songwriter and mom, was just that. She was and still is considered one of contemporary music’s most sought after songwriters, creating lyrics for artistes across genres. Yep. That’s that Caribbean blood she’s got in her veins. Angela wasn’t born in Trinidad and Tobago but she did grow up with her family in Trinidad.

Angie is celebrating the rewards of her hard work as an artist these days. Her album R.A.W. debuted on the Reggae Album Charts at #9 in September and a few days ago she unleashed the official video for the opening track on the album, ‘Gettin Ova You.’ The track speaks of a woman who can’t move past a previous relationship, something Angela says most people, especially women, can relate to. The song’s visuals were shot at various spots in Miami. Coining herself a genre-less artiste, Angela Hunte, while having started her singing career on stage in Trinidad and Tobago’s Greatest Show on Earth, told Billboard, “people have tried to pigeonhole me as a soca artist but I don’t want to be put in a box. I am just an artist, and I am going to do what I feel like.”

R.A.W includes collabs with Jamaica’s Tarrus Riley on the single, “King and Queen,” and Taranchyla and Brooklyn Rose on the single, “Rub Dub.”

Whether the songbird will be a part of T&T’s 2018 Carnival season is yet to be confirmed. On Monday, the singer shared another single called, “The Unknown’ – a track by dEvolve and features Hunte. She wrote:

We are “THE UNKNOWN” in a time where everyone is searching for something to validate their existence we remain in the shadows true to our music, refusing to follow but choosing to rebel against the music masses and do what we feel instead of beings laves to camps, teams, squads, crews.”

“I couldn’t be more honoured to have the street that I was raised on, the street that I grew up on . . . my dreams were born on this very street right here. I know that the saying believe in your dreams sounds cliché but I guarantee you that the only thing that got me here was believing in my dreams. I never doubted it.” – Rihanna.

The internationally acclaimed singer, actress and philanthropist was yesterday honored in the country of her birth, Barbados on the occasion of Barbados’ 51st Independence. The renaming of the popular Westbury New Road to Rihanna Drive took place amid inclement weather and among guests like Barbados’ Prime Minister, Fruendel Stuart and the island’s Opposition Leader, Mia Mottley.

Yesterday, Rihanna offered advice to those with big dreams in the audience, saying that while there were days when she was doubtful and discouraged, prior to making it out of Barbados to pursue her dreams, she kept the faith. “It really was just faith, that childlike faith and even now, when I get a little bit discouraged or doubtful, it’s the thing that I go back to, having faith in God. I want to encourage not just the people of Westbury New Road and the community but all the people of Barbados, all the young women and young men, who have dreams and think that the world is up against them, it is possible so just keep believing. Never forget that faith could go a very, very long way,” she said.

The Caribbean born superstar  rocked a deep yellow colored dress with an updo that showed off her unique features. The bestowed honor at home comes on the heels of Rihanna’s launch of her Fenty Beauty line a few months ago.
