Rihanna Tells Fans in Barbados, “Keep the Faith.” Singer Honored on Barbados’ Independence.

“I couldn’t be more honoured to have the street that I was raised on, the street that I grew up on . . . my dreams were born on this very street right here. I know that the saying believe in your dreams sounds cliché but I guarantee you that the only thing that got me here was believing in my dreams. I never doubted it.” – Rihanna.

The internationally acclaimed singer, actress and philanthropist was yesterday honored in the country of her birth, Barbados on the occasion of Barbados’ 51st Independence. The renaming of the popular Westbury New Road to Rihanna Drive took place amid inclement weather and among guests like Barbados’ Prime Minister, Fruendel Stuart and the island’s Opposition Leader, Mia Mottley.

Yesterday, Rihanna offered advice to those with big dreams in the audience, saying that while there were days when she was doubtful and discouraged, prior to making it out of Barbados to pursue her dreams, she kept the faith. “It really was just faith, that childlike faith and even now, when I get a little bit discouraged or doubtful, it’s the thing that I go back to, having faith in God. I want to encourage not just the people of Westbury New Road and the community but all the people of Barbados, all the young women and young men, who have dreams and think that the world is up against them, it is possible so just keep believing. Never forget that faith could go a very, very long way,” she said.

The Caribbean born superstar  rocked a deep yellow colored dress with an updo that showed off her unique features. The bestowed honor at home comes on the heels of Rihanna’s launch of her Fenty Beauty line a few months ago.

Cardi B wants to learn that proper Trini wine it seems. The Billboard chart topping rapper who crept to fame when she released her mega hit, ‘Bodak Yellow’ in 2017, seems to be getting ready to kick into high gear again soon, this after giving birth to her daughter, Kulture on July 10th.

Inhalemee excitedly shared her online convo with Cardi B.

Cardi whose parents are Trinidadian and Dominican, has been laying relatively low on the social media scene, in comparison to her pre-motherhood period. In recent social media posts however, the Bronx, NY native has given fans a few glimpses into her life at home. Her most recent social media post however sees some gyrating skills being showed off. Later, she implies the desire to work with popular Caribbean dancer, Denisha Burton who’s best known as ‘Inhalemee’ on the social media circuit. Burton danced with Machel Montano’s on stage troop of dancers during Carnival 2018.

Cardi B, in a conversation with Burton this week said she planned on taking up classes with the ‘winer’ who shows women around the world how to make their waistlines work.

Burton couldn’t have been more excited. Flip the page to see Cardi’s gyration moves. Be sure to tell us if you think she’s got it!

Why Marie Collette Has Everyone Saying, “Take Meh Money”.

Published

The vibe of carnival lies in the belly of the masquerader.

There are masqueraders who live for the ‘wine’ and then they’re those who are the embodiment of freedom, wild abandon, bliss and happiness. These are the masqueraders who show the world why being a part of Carnival isn’t an option, it is a requirement. Trinidad and Tobago swimwear and costume designer, Marie Collette has done just that.

In what can only be described as her selfless expression of love for the music and mas, Collette, in her fifth presentation of mas design for YUMA, delivered a jaw dropping stage show of her “ULTRA” costume design for YUMA in 2019. She delivered a seamless portrayal of what every masquerader should essentially strive to be on the road come Carnival Monday and Tuesday, edifying through movement, the masses who’d been looking on, on Sunday night. This was no ‘posey posey’ portrayal- this was a glimpse of the future, a glimpse into Carnival 2019.

Collette has been designing swimwear for a bit. Her passion has transcended into costume design.

Collette has been designing and claiming her space in the Caribbean design landscape for some time. Her killer bathing suits which are sold online at www.mariecollette.com have been enhanced, to say the least, transforming her ‘job’ into a passionate alignment with the ‘Monday wear’ trend that effectively catapulted her to where she is at now.

YUMA will deliver ‘Jukebox’ in 2019, a theme that will include sections like Fever, Wild Thoughts, It’s Carnival, Lemonade, Mi Gente and of course, ULTRA by Marie Collette.
