It’s official. There’s a brand new carnival concierge service operating out of Trinidad and Tobago and this past Saturday, September 28th, the 1One Nation Carnival outfit revealed its small but effective catalogue of designs for Carnival Monday and Tuesday.

Held at the Bungalow in Woodbrook, the launch unveiled the sections, Revelry, Insurgente, Carpe Diem and Amor- all elements that make up the creative portrayal of Tropical Wonderland, envisioned by bandleader Sejoux Nelson. With narration by 3 Canal’s Wendell Manwarren, those in attendance on Saturday night were treated to a truly unusual yet beautiful reveal, complete with ambient sounds that meshed perfectly with the Soca vibration that will bring the costumes to life in 2020.
The unit has spearheaded a campaign that unites Couture design with carnival, something the team believes has been missing in masquerade portrayals annually. “Our aim is to give international mas lovers something to truly be blown away by- something that effectively portrays the cultural beauty of our people and the vast creativity that can be found here,” said Nelson.

The concierge service will provide visitors to Trinidad and Tobago, from around the world, with a complete Carnival destination package, inclusive of accommodation, ground transportation, fete tickets and the element of Mas on Carnival Monday and Tuesday, with 1One Nation Carnival.

‘Runaway 5’ Kick Starts Carnival. The Soca Stars Are Ready. Ding Dong Too!

Carnival has officially been launched at sea. In true Trinbagonian style, a Friday morning breakfast Boatride hosted by 96.1WEFM radio personalities, Jaiga, R’odey, Nicki Crosby and Raw Fusion, saw the soca stars out in full force aboard the Harbour Master in West Trinidad.
As per usual, delayed sailing gave way for even more fun as fans of Soca showed no sign of disapproval, patiently waiting for the kick off of Runaway For Soca, a ride that marked its 5th year, in fine style. A good enough number aboard, and of course, the accompaniment of some of the best Soca artistes, the ride was equipped with all the right elements to make it intrinsically perfect.
Aboard, fans of soca couldn’t get enough! From vintage soca to hits of yester-year and today’s massive hits, DJs, which included the likes of Selector Pro, Chucky Ray Ban and Poison Sounds, kept the music flowing, showing carnival fetters that good vibes still exists. The event was billed as the introduction of the Soca stars to the season in T&T. Many in Trinidad to promote their new tracks, they seized the opportunity to be seen, heard and experienced at Runaway for Soca 5.
Sekon Sta, Nessa Preppy, Swappi, Patrice Roberts and even Trinidad Killa who was urged by organizers to sing his new Soca single, “Dyy Zess” rather than the controversial, “Gunman in She Hole,” performed for those aboard. Grenada’s Groovy Soca Monarch King, V’Ghn, International Soca Monarch King, Skinny Fabulous, Grenada’s Skinny Banton and Barbados’ Hypasounds were also aboard, delivering good vibes and sweet soca like only they could, but it would be popular DJ, Viking Ding Dong- the official DJ for Bunji Garlin and Fay Ann Lyons, who would steal much of the attention on Friday morning. His track, “Outside” was all the rave – the entertainer getting major approval from Soca lovers. Whether it was Dong’s easy going nature, his smile or the vibe of the song itself that made him steal the show, the fact that he made a huge impression is definitely something to note.

Turner Remembers God, Tells Fans to Believe in Prayer’s Power.

Not very long ago, Turner, a young, unique sounding artist from Morvant, Trinidad inhaled and released his heart. He initially gave Soca music lovers songs like, “She Bad” and “Holding On.” In 2019, Turner lost his young daughter. News of the child’s sudden passing pierced the hearts of many of his followers. For him, it would undoubtedly be a life altering experience.
Online social media posts over the past few months have shown Turner’s spiritual growth. He has prayed, expressed himself and thanked God for his blessings even amid the pain of loss. In one social media post today, the young entertainer explained that he was once homeless. Added to his revelation some time before that his father had died, having contracted HIV/AIDS, Turner’s reality certainly proved tough.

In the aftermath of his daughter’s passing, and ahead of Carnival 2020, Turner released a very untraditional soca track. Much like Kanye West had done by releasing “Jesus Walks” in the rap and Hip Hop culture, Trevon Turner released, “Thank Him” in the often sexually charged, Soca culture. Whether the song would be played and listened to, would be up to the DJs and radio personalities.
Undoubtedly awakened by the most recent circumstances of his life, Turner seems to be using his God given talent to promote God’s works. “One thing I know for sure is that Jah really answers our prayers and he listens to your prayers. I assure you that he ain’t bothered about your race, religion, hair or the color of your skin or even if you are rich or poor,” he wrote in a social media post.
Here’s a look at what he had to say about his life and how God has answered his prayers.
