Known for speaking on the plights of the voiceless through their catalog of reggae hits, the multi-Grammy award winning Trinity, Morgan Heritage, has returned to the forefront after two years. They’re now delivering their observations about the lack of attention given to these injustices, by the media.

On Friday, Morgan Heritage released a new single called, “Headline Fi Front Page.” features new dancehall artistes, Rytikal (aka Purytikal) and Jahshii, but is also graced by I Octane. The new single is a groovy mix between the Rootsy reggae, which Morgan Heritage is known for and some vibrant contemporary dancehall, Hip Hop rhythms.

Morgan Heritage is known for their award-winning music, and massive singles like Don’t Haffi DreadDown By The RiverTell Me How Come and Sunday Morning. Stellar albums like Grammy nominated Avrakadebra, Strictly Roots, which won the Grammys for best Reggae album in 2016 and most recently released Legacy, have helped to cement their space in Jamaican music history. Originally made up of five of Denroy Morgan’s very talented children, Morgan Heritage the band is now comprised of Roy “Gramps” Morgan, Peter “Peetah” Morgan and Memmalatel “Mr. Mojo” Morgan who are considered The Trinity.

The musical fabric of the group remains intact, and their latest single is proof. “Headline Fi Front Page ” invites young artist Rytikal, who recently underwent a transition of his own, with a more positive moniker Purytikal to give his take on the impact and responsibility media has on the information shared . He manages a skilled report on the social atmosphere, following in the footsteps of Morgan Heritage’s signature tone of keen social commentary.

I-Octane, as the more experienced of the younger acts featured, brings his distinctive brand of disapproval for the flawed society that continues to fail the youth. Jahshii, gives his perspective on the misdirection, news entities perpetrate with a passionate verse of his own.

Morgan Heritage provides a much-needed space to reflect on the state of our society, but also the state of the media, which is charged with reporting on these conditions. The artistes bring up several issues that have been the subject of debate in Jamaica over the last year or two, including the unfortunate shaving of a young Rastafarian by the police.

Produced by Morgan Heritage themselves, this record will officially be released by one of the group’s imprints, Heritage Grown Productions and distributed by Johnny Wonder in North America and South America and by Horus Music globally.

There’s never a dull moment in Caribbean entertainment and we’ve got proof. Trinidad Killa has shared prophecy for the future and he’s calling on his fellow artistes on the music circuit to understand their worth.

The restauranteur and entertainer took a brief moment away from his TK Smokehouse duties to hop on an Instagram Livestream. In his prophesy, the TK, whose real name is Kern Joseph, said he predicts that by 2030 there will no more Carnival in Trinidad and Tobago. “You know why? Artistes underselling (day-self). Artistes calling promoters and telling dem, put meh on yh show, put meh on yuh show, put meh on yuh show,” he expressed. The often controversial entertainer alleged that because of this, promoters are not paying artistes to appear on their shows.

He went on, “Carnival become a competition. Once a man have a Road March tune, he poppin’ up in fetes and poppin’ up on shows and performing for free,” he alleged, adding that annually, promoters in Carnival pay the same major artistes for live performances.

Trinidad Killa migrated to the United States some three years ago. He has however remained consistently vocal on the events taking place in his homeland. “Allyuh see what go on with Soca Monarch. There is no more Soca Monarch,” he said, going on to positively highlight this year’s Flava Village addition. “There is so much going on in the carnival. All I would like to say is, artistes, stop under-selling allyuh self and when allyuh learn the value of allyuh artistry, and allyuh stop sell allyuh self short, that is when the industry will start to move.”

Trinidad Killa ended his livestream with the words, “music is a mission, not a competition.”
