Love promises to be the order of everything in Tobago on Valentine’s weekend, this as organizers busily get things together for the Tobago Loves Soca weekend in February 2019.  News just in, Jamaican reggae love crooner, Jah Cure has been added to the cast of entertainers for the amazing three-night affair.

Patrice Roberts is booked for TLS weekend.

Jah Cure is as much a staple to Trinidad and Tobago and the Caribbean’s entertainment circuit, as are artistes like Machel Montano, Bunji Garlin, Patrice Roberts and Destra Garcia. Randy Glasgow Productions, in making the decision to include Jah Cure, said, TLS Weekend falls on a Valentine’s weekend, the most romantic time of year. Also,We’re all about including everyone. This is an event that will celebrate Caribbean love- from our music, to our food, our women, and certainly Tobago’s rich and extraordinary atmospheric beauty,” said Glasgow.

TLS weekend kicks off on February 15th, one day after Valentine’s Day, and ends on February 17th. Glasgow says Jah Cure’s inclusion to the cast will deliver something special for the lovers who make it a point of traveling to Tobago to celebrate their love for each other on Valentine’s weekend. Tickets for the blockbuster entertainment-filled TLS weekend are already going fast, according to Glasgow who’s been steadily advising patrons to book their accommodation and travel tickets early. He says most of the biggest soca stars have already been booked and with each themed event promising epic fun, there’s no reason attending, should even be a question.

There comes a time when a man must stand up for what he believes is right. So says Kern Joseph, the man best known by his entertainment sobriquet, Trinidad Killa. In the past few days, he has patiently been awaiting a response to his request for understanding and compassion from the hierarchy within the People’s National Movement. “No one has reached out to me, despite my best efforts to prove that what they have done to me, is illegal and ethically wrong,” said the artist.

Last week Thursday, Trinidad Killa revealed that his intellectual and creative rights had been infringed upon by the PNM party and its representative in the Point Fortin area. He held in his possession, videos that he said proved that his music was being blared atop campaign trucks by PNM party campaigners ahead of next week’s general election in the country. He lamented that he had been verbally abused by a senior member of the party, having attempted to cordially discuss the potential for an amicable solution to the matter of his demo being played without his consent. In earnest, the ‘Dy Zess’ singer explained that he had prepared demos for both major political parties and had been in the process of arranging to professionally execute business arrangements when it was revealed to him that his song was being used without his consent. “I can’t just sit back and allow this to happen without standing up for myself and for all the other people like me who are taken advantage of by people who think that their status gives them the right to push others aside,” he said, adding, “that is my music ; that is my intellectual property and I have a right to at least be given that acknowledgement. Up to this time, no one from the People’s National Movement has apologized to me for using my work without my consent. Even if they didn’t want to purchase the music for their campaign, they should have never used the music on the trucks,” he said.

Now, the artiste says he will continue with his legal challenge, maintaining that any leadership that can easily set aside and ignore such strong pleas for justice in a situation as simple as this one, is unworthy of his vote. “I created another song. This one is not the one that I initially sent to the opposing party for purchase consideration, but because I have been demonized and made to sound like I am nothing, by members of the ruling party, I felt the need to stand my ground. No man should ever be embarrassed the way that I have been, for what is mine. I have the perfect response,” he said.

The artiste released a new single available on YouTube and on all social media platforms. He says he has not been paid by any political party but stands on principle now, and always will.

From the likes of Beres Hammond, to Queen Ifrika, Buju Banton, Richie Spice, Capleton and countless others, a pioneer in reggae and lover’s rock engineering, has joined his versatility and unique flair with a sound out of Trinidad and Tobago. Together, and complimented by a youthful musical dynamic that’s been described as the next best thing out of Jamaica, a couple of powerful musical masters are set to unleash pure magic in music, later this month.

“Making this connection has been a blessing. I have to especially thank Jamesy P out of St. Vincent and the Grenadines for making the initial introductions,” said well-known Trinidad and Tobago artist, Shurwayne Winchester. Known for his major accomplishments in the Soca music industry over the years, Shurwayne’s now mixing things up a little, delving into Lover’s Rock and he’s definitely made the right link to make it happen. Rohan Dwyer is responsible for mixing “Memories” by John Legend and Buju Banton on Buju’s 2020 album, Upside Down 2020- an album that’s been absorbed and commended by Billboard and Rollingstone. “Just the opportunity to work with Rohan on this project, has opened my appetite for fresh sounds and styles. I’ve immersed myself in the music because I believe that’s the only way to truly replicate the sound perfectly, and so far, the pre-release reviews have been great,” said Shurwayne.

The single, ‘True Love,’ which features support vocals by Jamaican boy band, 8, is melodic as it is lyrically pronounced.

“We’re at a crossroads in time presently. For years many have sat back and questioned the direction that the music of today, had been heading. Now, in this present time with all that’s happening in the world, so many people dying of the Covid-19 virus, and of course, intense race relations in the US and other parts of the world, music must be the healing source. We have to use the music to deliver the right messages to the people,” said the former Road March, Power Soca and Groovy Soca Monarch champion of Trinidad and Tobago.

Jamaican boy band- 8.

Shurwayne hailed the talent of the boy band, saying it’s been a true pleasure to work alongside the young musicians who make up 8. “These young musicians who also double up as vocalists, are really talented,” said Shurwayne. Adrian Bacchus, George Campbell Jhada Dwyer, Moses Estick, Matthew Gillespie, Jordon McLeary and Dimetri Wynter bring the Jamaican reggae melody that can’t be missed, to the new single that’s set for release on August 21st

“What we want people to do is fall in love with music again. My aim has always been to bring quality to my audience all over the world. We strive to bring music that has staying power, music that will stand the test of time. Rohan has been a producer for Beres Hammond as well as so many other artistes over the years and these artistes’ music has stayed with us,” said Shurwayne. The new single is now available for pre-order. Music lovers are encouraged to be first in line to receive the track by visiting, https://smarturl.it/ShurwayneTrueLove
