‘Issa’ Anthem. MX Prime, Ultimate Rejects Release C2K18 Blockbuster. Double Whammy Maybe?

Published

on

Well, the saying goes, if it’s nice, do it twice. The Ultimate Rejects with headline act, MX Prime have unleashed a mammoth road and fete anthem, heading into the Carnival 2018 season and by the immediate reaction around town, they’re not making light of their accomplishments in 2017. They want more, no doubt.

Could MX Prime be coming for the Road March again?

A newly released track called “Inside The Festival” is ultimately a blockbuster Carnival anthem and it’s only November. The past year has been a whirlwind one for Prime and his team of musical masterminds. They’ve toured the world to say the least. When we spoke with MX Prime some time ago amid all the touring, he admitted that there were moments of weariness but in the same breath, he said it all comes with the territory.

Soca music, slowly becoming a globally appreciated sound, is likely to engage many more in the year ahead. “Inside The Festival” could be one of those carnival songs that will deliver to people from all walks of life, a true understanding, through music, of the many facets of the cultural experience. Last week, MX Prime was awarded honored in Las Vegas during the carnival weekend experience. The city’s mayor proclaimed October 28th, MX Prime Day and Cherney Amhara Day. It was the first time a Soca unit had received such recognition by a Chief Executive Officer in a major West Coast city of the US.

Jamaican dancehall heavyweight Charly Black celebrates his birthday today and he’s promising fans an exciting weekend.  The artiste, in an interview on RED 96.7FM in Trinidad this morning, said he’s chosen Trinidad to celebrate this weekend all because of his fanbase on the island of Soca. Black collaborated with Soca boss, Machel Montano in 2017 on a track that has since remained incredibly loved. That single was called, “VIP Girl.”

Charly Black has amassed global popularity. He is one of dancehall music’s leading artistes at this time.

Even as Jamaica’s carnival is in full swing and several of T&T’s soca stars are on that island, Charly told the public today that his fans in Trinidad have shown him a love that he cannot deny or turn a blind eye to. “Trinidad is my second home so at the end of the day, I always have to make sure I do the right thing.
