Here’s How Machel Montano Made us Gush Last Weekend.

Published

on

While the untamable frenzy in the Caribbean last weekend centered around Jamaican dancehall and reggae icon, Buju Banton’s first post-release concert, there was a lot to take in amid the excitement. Machel Montano’s ongoing love affair stuck out like a sore thumb in our minds here at Ebuzztt, and in case you haven’t realized just how smitten the Soca taipan truly is, we’re here to prove it to you!

Buju’s Long Road to Freedom concert in Jamaica on Saturday brought the best of the best in Caribbean entertainment to the Jamaica National Stadium. From Tarrus Riley to Dj Khaled, Romain Virgo, Aidonia and Beenie Man among others, Caribbean celebs showed out and Trinidad and Tobago’s Machel Montano was among them.

In the thick of the massive crowd, Machel Montano made a very public appearance with the woman he’s been linked to for some time. Reneé Butcher, a pretty low key beauty, whose simple yet charming demeanor leaves us quite intrigued, was seen wrapped in Montano’s arms, swaying to the music of the Grammy award winning artist, both, she and Montano undeniably in their comfort zone with each other.

Machel Montano, possibly in wind down mode after a very visible Carnival season in Trinidad and Tobago, once collaborated with Buju Banton. The Soca artist had remixed his single, “Make Love” with the “Rasta Got Soul” hit maker. His relationship with Butcher, while informerly confirmed, has seen them on an apparent life journey with a lot of spiritual soul searching together.

During Carnival 2019 in T&T, Butcher’s presence was seen and felt. Photos showed the couple together on Valentine’s Day, coupled up affectionately. Butcher was a part of the Carnival Mas excitement as well, taking to the streets with Montano, Ashanti and the countless other celebrities partaking in the bliss of the season. What’s not to love?

Now, here are 5 reasons we love seeing this couple together:

  • Their energy as a couple is humble, grounded and easy.
  • She’s cute!
  • She has seemingly affected Machel in a positive way. His energy as an individual seems different since she became publicly announced.
  • Love WINS! At 44 years of age, we love the idea of seeing the King of Soca settle with someone truly suited to him, after all, how much longer will he subject himself to those touchy- feely females on the entertainment circuit! The time has come to just let real love WIN!

Trinidad and Tobago’s National Instrument Undeserving of Carifesta Main Stage?

Published

on

The Carifesta XIV experience being hosted in Trinidad and Tobago this year may have a bit of upheaval, this as Pantrinbago says the national instrument isn’t being treated with the respect it deserves.

Ace pannist Dane Gulston has spoken out on the matter of the steelpan not being included in the main concert event, “Island Beats”, which is carded for August 24th.

The Isand Beats event being hosted at the Queen’s Park Savannah, will be headlined by Machel Montano, Grammy Award winner, Shaggy and Guadeloupe’s Kassav, with other performances by young entertainers like Nailah Blackman and Voice. Gulston argues it’s outrageous that no thought was given to including the host country’s national instrument in the main stage lineup, further stating that the use of steel pan only at the opening and closing of events, is essentially a slap in the face.

Speaking on television on Friday morning, Pantrinbago President, Beverly Ramsey-Moore said while the organization, under her stewardship, has enjoyed a very good relationship with Culture and Arts Minister Nyan Gadsby Dolly, her response to the request from Pantrinbago to be included in the main stage dynamic, was unappreciated. She relayed how Gadsby Dolly seemed to have been taken aback by the request, in essence squealing, “Pan on stage with Machel and Shaggy?!”

Jamaican reggae artistes, Maxi Priest and Tarrus Riley were treated to the sweet steel pan music by Dane Gulston in May this year.

The Minister is yet to comment on the issue, this as social media is now abuzz with online commentators arguing that Trinidad and Tobago’s renowned national instrument- the only major musical instrument invented in the 20th century, should be loved by its people and shared with the world, at any opportunity given.

In May this year, Jamaican reggae sensation Tarrus Riley was greeted by Gulston to the sound of the steelpan, which he enjoyed tremendously.

Jamaican reggae hit maker @tarrusrileyja is certainly a fan of the steel pan. He’s in #TrinidadandTobago ahead of Saturday’s #Redemption6 concert being held at the Queen’s Park Savannah in Port-of-Spain. He met up with ace pannist, #DaneGulston who showed him a thing or two. The culture of the Caribbean, while sometimes vastly different, is always wholeheartedly embraced by all Caribbean people. What a beautiful thing. #caribbean #entertainment #music #steelpan #trinidadandtobago #tarrusriley #ebuzztt
