On Monday evening in Trinidad and Tobago, all hell broke loose on air at urban radio station, RED96.7FM. A seemingly unplanned musical challenge between Fay Ann Lyons and Destra Garcia, as provoked by Dj Rome and his cohort, Chinee, erupted in an all out campaign for Lyons-Alvarez to show up and show out at the upcoming Chinatown event.

Lyons Alvarez has unleashed a single ahead of Carnival 2020- a track delivered with Jaiga and Grenada’s Lil Natty and Thunda, called ‘One Love.’ On Monday, her music blared as fans called in to the radio station, demanding that the former Road March and Power Soca Monarch champion, make an appearance at the Chinatown event being hosted by Chinee on October 6th.

Efforts by the presenter to get a hold of the singer on her mobile phone proved futile, however we later learnt that Fay had been in the gym and knew nothing of what was taking place. We spoke with the entertainer who said she’s booked for an event in Miami in early October. Miami carnival takes place on October 13th.

On air, Chinee boasted of his years of being on the road and jumping to music of Lyons-Alvarez, this as her countless soca tracks punctuated his endorsements. On Monday night, the airwaves at Red 96.7FM belonged to Fay and whether she truly understood the electrifying vibe that resonated on air or not quite, many will attest that Fay Ann is the woman in demand ahead of the fete starter on October 6th.
