Fans of Jah Cure Express Shock After Social Media Outburst. Fellow Entertainer Defends the Reggae Hitmaker.

It’s not turning out to be such a good week for Jamaican reggae sensation, Jah Cure. After igniting the stage at the Redemption concert in Trinidad two weekends ago, the artist is today being chastised by fans for what appears to be a random outburst on social media, that has gone viral. The artiste is seen and heard lashing out at music selectors, specifically those who request dub plates from him.

Flexx of former all male band, TOK, speaks on the issue.

The rant, which has been the topic of conversation all day in T&T and other caribbean destinations, hears Jah Cure indicate to selectors that he is ‘rich’ and does not need their money to survive. Online, several persons have voiced their disdain over the artiste’s uncanny expression, saying that he depended on selectors to get him to where he is today, particularly after he was released from prison.

Jah Cure has been a favourite of many for years. His music promotes love, peace and goodness. His recent outburst however, has left many wondering whether he was not thinking straight.

Former TOK member, Flexx has spoken out in Jah Cure’s defense. Listen to the audio below.

It’s the kind of song everyone needs to hear. For an artiste like Protoje, dubbed one of the architects of reggae’s revival movement, it’s really nothing new. He’s been preaching positive from the very beginning. This time around, the artiste, who was nominated for the 2018 Best Reggae Album Grammy award with, ‘A Matter of Time’, teamed up with Jamaica’s Agent Sasco and Lila Ike for what turned out to be something pretty special.

Last week, he touched down in Trinidad. He’s been making the media rounds, highlighting the new track, ‘Not Another Word’ – a song that’s come complete with the right visuals to engage. He’s no newcomer, he understands the power of visibility, the respect of social media marketing and the essence of immediate connection, but truth be told, Protoje sure wishes life were simpler.

The irony. In a world where a man can be entrapped miles away from his home country, detained for near 10 years, released, and return to being an even bigger symbol of power and positivity than he ever was, proves there are no limits. Buju Banton’s fire blazes on.

Internationally acclaimed multi millionaire music mogul, DJ Khaled’s been a close friend and ally of Mark Myrie, the artiste we all fondly refer to as Buju Banton, for some 19 years. Khaled, a US national born to Palestinian parents, has been grounded enough to know the sweet beauty that can often be found in the harsh rubble of ghetto cultured living. It’s no surprise that his latest album release, an honorary tribute to his young son, Asahd, features a few of Jamaica’s best, among them Buju Banton, Sizzla Kalonji and Mavado.
