Fans of reggae and dancehall came out to enjoy an epic event.

The Easter Festival which, according to High Frequency Entertainment, brought with it a mass invasion of tourists for the weekend, was epic, to say the least. Patrons were treated to a layout that proved effective and an artist lineup that catered to the desires of most. By himself, Buju Banton penetrated powerfully, singing his anthems, some legendary dancehall dubs and others melodic chants of prayer and spiritual persuasion. On stage, the artiste questioned Trinidad and Tobago on its criminal decay. “What is going on in Trinidad,” asked Buju, passionately pleading with the youths to consider their lifestyles.

Reggae superstar Buju Banton continues to stand firm in his purpose. He recently donated 3 million Jamaican dollars, which he won after he competed in the Jamaica song festival competition.

Together with assorted footwear and food, the children at the Sunbeam children’s home received the money, which went towards the construction of a chicken layers business. The business is a poultry and egg production venture, which, upon completion, should provide a sustainable income stream for the childcare facility and employable skills for those housed there.

Buju does not take his celebrity status lightly. Through his Buju Banton Foundation, he’s been encouraging and enlisting his famous friends to support the mission. Among those friends is superstar rap artist turned gospel choir leader Kanye West. Kanye joined in to contribute 50 laptops- one for each boy at Sunbeam children’s home, and 10 desktop computers and chairs for Mount Oliver boys home in Jamaica.
