World renowned Nigerian singer and songwriter Timaya, also known as Don Dada and Egberi Papa 1 of Bayelsa, has released a brand new single “My Moto.”. The track is from his upcoming album, which is highly anticipated by fans and music lovers, worldwide.

A media release issued noted that “My Moto” showcases Timaya’s distinctive Afro-Caribbean sound, which fuses elements of dancehall, hip-hop, soca, and Afrobeats. Produced by award winning producer Yung Willis, the song embodies Timaya’s signature high-energy beats, catchy lyrics, and an irresistible melody that is guaranteed to get listeners moving.

“I am excited to share this new track with my fans. ‘My Moto’ is a song that will get you moving, and I can’t wait to see people dancing to it at parties, clubs, and everywhere in between,” said the artiste, adding, “It’s a reintroduction to my Afro-Caribbean sound, which a lot of my new fans & listeners didn’t get to experience, especially in this streaming era.”

Accompanying the release of the new single is a vibrant, colorful and energetic video that matches the upbeat, infectious song. 

Timaya is one of Nigeria’s most popular and influential performers, who has been making music since 2005. He is the founder of DM Records Limited, which he is also signed to. He has released several hit songs and albums, such as “Dem Mama”, “Plantain Boy”, “Bum Bum”, “Don Dada”, Sanko, and “Cold Outside”. He has also collaborated with other artistes, among them, Phyno, BNXN fka Buju, Machel Montano, Sean Paul, Flavour, and Patoranking. He has won several awards and nominations for his music, including four Headies Awards, two AFRIMMA Awards, one Nigeria Music Award, and one NEA Award.

On Thursday, the CEO of TikTok, Shou Zi Chew appeared before US Congress. Prior to his appearance, the Chinese government said it would strongly oppose any forced sale of the high-impact social media company.

Commerce Ministry spokeswoman Shu Jueting said forcing a sale of TikTok would seriously damage the confidence of investors from all over the world, including China, to invest in the United States.

President Joe Biden’s administration recently applied pressure to TikTok’s Beijing-based owner, ByteDance, to sell the company. Lawmakers in Washington have argued that TikTok’s unclear algorithms could be used to promote pro-Beijing messaging to millions of users, and have voiced concerns that TikTok’s ownership makes it easy for the company to turn over user data to the Chinese government. Because a sale of the company would involve technology export issues, it would need the approval of the Chinese government and compliance with Chinese law, Shu said. “The Chinese government will make a decision in accordance with the law,” she said.

According to ByteDance, 60 percent of TikTok’s shares are owned by large international investors and the other 40 percent are owned by the company’s founders and employees. Members of Congress on Thursday made the argument that China’s official resistance was an indication that the Chinese Communist Party owns the company, which TikTok has repeatedly denied.

Around the world, including in the Caribbean region, TikTok influencer marketing has take off, with many major brands utilizing personal user generated content to promote their brands and products.
