Fay-Ann Lyons- Trinidad and Tobago’s best female Songwriter of the year, as derived by the Copyright Organisation of Trinidad and Tobago last evening, could very well be the hottest 35-year- old the Soca music business has ever seen. The artiste welcomes another year of life today, kicking it off earlier this morning with drinks alongside music producer, Stadic Music and her management team. Lyons is undoubtedly in the best shape of her life, having proven to her fans and followers across social media that she’s game when it comes to putting in the hard work at the gym. She recently ran a marathon to highlight women’s issues in Trinidad and Tobago.

The COTT awards meanwhile, returned this year, being held last night at the Queen’s Hall in St. Ann’s, Trinidad and Lyons-Alvarez took home the accolade for Best Female Songwriter of the Year with her 2015 contribution, “Raze”- a song that was embroiled in much social media banter a few months ago when the artist unleashed a music video that many felt just did not make the cut. In a post of thanks online following the win last night, the lady who’s known to emulate much of her legendary father Superblue’s on stage showmanship, said, “Thank you for your continuous support year after year, fans,friends and family. The producers have my continued appreciation for the talent and dedication towards the Music. @stadicmusic and others. The band, Vikings, hard work and faith is paying, thank you guys. MiMeltd staff, thank you, you are appreciated. And last but not least @bunjigarlin you inspire me,daily!! I dedicate this to my earthly reason, ‪#‎Syri‬ Lyons-Alvarez.”

Lyons’ husband, Bunji Garlin also took to social media to celebrate his wife’s birthday, posting, “HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY WIFE Fay Ann Lyons- Alvarez (official). MAY YOU SEE MANY MORE AND I SEE THEM WITH YOU. WE GOING FULL JOURNEY B. SYRI AND I LOVE YOU VERY VERY MUCH.”

Fay-Ann has released one single so far, ahead of Carnival 2016- a track called, “Block De Road” featuring Ghana’s Stonebwoy. It is expected that in the coming days, more music will be unleashed by the ViQueen ahead of what will undoubtedly be a very short festival season in T&T.
