3 Suns are now a part of The Ground Empire- a movement founded by The Asylum Vikings.
They’re not about to quit and despite the fact that most if not everyone who’s been following 3 Suns over the years, may have thought that the group was disbanded when Menace announced his solo debut two years ago, remaining members, Crim and Ace told ETCETERABUZZ 3 Suns is alive and well!
Now part and parcel of The Asylum Viking’s Ground Empire movement, the Sangre Grande natives told us that their relationship with Menace remains cool. “We’re cool. We talk when we see each other but remember, he is on a different mission so our paths have changed, but it’s all good,” said Ace, adding that they all remain brothers in music, something that will never change.
Having released two singles ahead of the 2015 carnival in Trinidad and Tobago, Ace and Crim are looking forward to big things on the horizon. Last week, they dropped a track called, “Heat”. It’s a track that was sampled from the music of calypso legend, Shadow. Ace said getting Shadow to agree to the project was a challenge in itself, but in the end, things turned out perfectly.

Ace credits Fay-Ann for coming up with the name, Mard.
Prior to that release, the duo teamed up with Bunji Garlin and Fay-Ann Lyons for ‘Mard’. That single has been getting the nod of approval in many quarters, with DJs seemingly loving it, showing signs that it just might be one of those tracks to watch when the feting really gets started. The guys said Fay-Ann was again very instrumental in bringing that song to reality, noting that she actually came up with the name.

Now, as we mentioned, Ground Empire is now home to 3 Suns, with the team behind the movement now responsible for the overall management of the 3 Suns unit. Ace said they’d been in talks with Bunji for some time. He however credited Fay-Ann Lyons for coming up with the idea to assemble the veteran entertainers of Soca, among them, 3 Suns and Ataklan, to be a part of the Movement. Crim noted that things really began brewing on the night of Bunji’s birth-nite event at Woodford Cafe, Chaguanas, earlier this year. “It’s way beyond the brotherhood now. It’s business,” said Crim. As to whether they’ll be a part of the Viking’s stage show in Carnival, the 3 Suns members said this is likely, however they said they will more than likely be a feature within the band’s performance.
