11 Years Later, Bunji And Fay Ann Keep The Love Sizzling Hot. Fay Wants 100 More.

It’s been 11 years since fans around the world celebrated the union of two of Soca music’s hottest people. Ian ‘Bunji Garlin’ Alvarez- a guy from the rural Wallerfield area scored big time when he found himself the woman of his dreams in Fay-Ann Lyons, the daughter of who else but, the King of Jump and Wave, Austin ‘Superblue’ Lyons. It seemed like a fairytale and now, 11 years later, these two still manage to keep the fire in their relationship, with Fay Ann this morning saying :

“Here’s to 11 years of no regrets and a hundred more with you ; The most awesome husband in the world! I love you and look forward to the “rocking chair” days! Stay weird my love.”

Power couple, Bunji Garlin and Fay Ann Lyons.

They travel the world together. She feeds him and he loves that. She manages the family’s affairs and despite public scrutiny at times, some often commenting that Lyons-Alvarez wears the pants in the relationship, what they have is working. “He’s not afraid to be in love and most importantly he is a family man,” Fay Ann told Ebuzztt.com this morning. She’s hard at work, prepping for the upcoming Carnival 2018 season but of course, when it comes to her husband and her daughter, the ViQueen is always ready to smile and share her thoughts. We’d asked her what is it that makes her want to spend the rest of her life with Bunji still, and that was her response.

At midnight, her husband had taken to social media to share his feelings. “The clock hit midnight and here we are alright,” he said, almost sounding like he was about to ‘buss’ into a freestyle. He showed his followers his wife’s blinged out wedding bands in a photo that saw her place her index finger on her lips as if to tell the world, ‘hush’… he was smiling.

“I love you with everything to match you, my everything. It’s going to be one of them best and blessed days @fayannlyons”

The duo continue to stand with each other. Lyons Alvarez will be a part of Fantasy Carnival’s masquerade in 2018 with her very own section, ‘ATLANTA’, in the band’s presentation of ‘Isle of Olympia’. Together they will present two events in the year ahead, one, a boat ride called, Pree Dawn and the other a J’ouvert experience called ‘Santimanitay J’ouvert’. Fay Ann recently unleashed a new collaborative single with Ricardo Drue- a track called, “Another Level”, that hears her vocal skills mimic her early years in the biz. Bunji meanwhile is soaring into the upcoming season with several tracks to his credit already, among them a power contender called, “Soca and Rum,” which was released only last week. There’s no stopping them so while the critics keep talking, these two game changers are keeping the love sizzling hot and making that paper.

One of dancehall’s leading contemporary artistes is on his way to Trinidad and Tobago for the highly anticipated and much talked about Inferno concert being held on Saturday at the Jean Pierre Complex. Busy Signal’s been creating major waves in the hemisphere and further afield in the past few weeks, having teamed up with Brazil’s MC KevinHo on a track called ‘Loko’, that’s also shared with Brazil’s Tropikal Bass Killers and the prolific, Major Lazer. The Jamaican Singjay recently represented his homeland in Brazil where Brazil’s MTV Awards took place. On June 9th, Busy will take the stage with some of dancehall’s biggest names at the Inferno concert event- a show that organisers insist starts promptly at 10pm.

It’s not Busy Signal’s first time on T&T’s soil, however, in a concert affair that is being touted as a mammoth rejuvenation of true dancehall and reggae vibes in T&T, the energy surrounding Busy Signal’s inclusion on the Inferno cast, is second to none. “We see this as the perfect blend of dancehall and reggae. On one hand you have Capleton- an artist that’s known to defend it when it comes to that hardcore conscious vibe, and of course Sizzla’s never to be outdone in that arena. Then on the other end of the spectrum we’re giving patrons good vibes, conjuring good feelings and nostalgia of days gone by with Barrington Levy- an essential name when it comes to reggae music. This is a man who ran things in the early 90s and has a catalogue of music that many of the up and coming acts could only hope to achieve. When Busy Signal’s added to that dynamic, it could only be magic on show night at the Jean Pierre Complex in Port-of-Spain,” said the organizer. Levy meanwhile, performed in St. Lucia on the weekend- the perfect warm up to what’s going to unfold in Trinidad.
