For the past three months, he’s been hopping from island to island,  so like us here at EBUZZTT, you’re probably wondering how on earth did this ‘professional’ find the time to get new music done, complete with an awesomely refreshing video. Ricardo Drue is undoubtedly proving that he’s a powerful force in the soca music and carnival industry, and as much as one would want to credit his alignment with the Roy Cape band for his ongoing success, truth is, Drue’s just got the hustler mentality and the backing of a strong marketing team.

Ricardo Drue's been busy.

Ricardo Drue’s been busy.

This past carnival in Trinidad and Tobago, the entertainer who delivered ‘Professional’ and ‘BET’, proved that he doesn’t shy away from performance. From stage to stage, Drue gave audiences his all, and showed an effortless balance of musical execution and strong visual appeal with little talk in between. In the past few months, he’s been across the islands. From Guyana to Barbados, his birthplace, Antigua, Bahamas, St. Thomas, USVI, Jamaica, Berlin and of course, in between it all, treasured stoppage time at home in the US with his family, which includes a beautiful 9 month old baby boy he calls, TJ, Drue has been making the rounds. Carrying his brand of distinguished Soca proudly on his shoulders, the young entertainer is definitely making a mark.

In recent days, Ricardo Drue released a new single called, “Stamp Your Name”.

“Fear! Everyone is afraid of something! How many of us wake up every day?!!…. knowing we want so much more but don’t risk taking the chance because we are afraid of the unknown. Some people don’t even know who they are. Does that mean they are afraid of themselves?
Fear makes you know you alive!!! I always tell my kids dare to be different, it cost nothing to dream but it costs everything not to. Take a risk, take a chance, Live life like a movie! So when your time is up, Stamp your name!!! Identify Yourself!!!”

Drue posted the above statement on Instagram- a social network he fills with info, quite often. The video is a testimony to his life. It sees snippets of stage performances, moments with his kids, personal moments of feting enjoyment and all else that identify the charismatic, young heartthrob.

The video, we learn toward the end, is a dedication to the life of Lynn Patrice Ochoa- a former Carib Brewery brand and sponsorship executive who passed away suddenly just after Carnival 2016.

Take a look at the video, and let us know what you think in our comments section below.

Machel Montano’s proving to be a stand up guy. You know how some companies hate giving refunds?…well, seems like the Monk and his cohorts at Tribe Carnival, understanding of the current climate, and the global economic effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, are extending an olive branch to fetters.

In a YouTube message posted last week, Machel is heard explaining why the inaugural Melee cruise, which was originally carded to sail in May 2021, has been pushed back.

He said plans are still ongoing, but explained that for those who have been strongly impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, forcing them to reconsider sailing with the Melee family, refunds would be afforded.
