Reigning Groovy International Soca Monarch (ISM) King Olatunji Yearwood is yet to decide whether he’ll be participating in next year’s International Soca Monarch competition. At a press conference held by the entertainer and his team on Wednesday, ‘Tunji Montana’ as he’s been touting, explained that he’ll be leaving the final decision to the people of T&T and the world who enjoy his music and the entertainment he delivers.

“I will leave it to the people to decide if I will be defending my crown. It is something that for me comes with inspiration from the ground…the energy of Trinidad and Tobago. If the universe wants me there I shall be. I am waiting to see the response of the people to my songs before I decide that I will defend.  I am confident, but just have to know that the people want me there,” said the artiste who recently teamed up with fellow Soca Monarch King, Machel Montano on a track entitled, ” Where I’m From”.

On the issue of the adjusted Soca Monarch format, which will see both the Groovy and Power categories merged into one competition, Olatunji said change is good. He explained that as the style and feel of Soca music changes, so too must the engines that support and showcase it to the world. Revealing that he’s been getting some fatigue from fellow entertainment Farmer Nappy, Ola said, “Farmer Nappy continues to see me all over the world and telling me he is coming for me. Well let’s see how that works out.”

The artiste also indicated that there’s been a situation playing out where an imposter has been posing as his bookings manager. He said the person, he identified as Wayne D Mac, who allegedly resides in New York, has created a fake Instagram account – Olatunji.Yearwood, a fake email address – bookingolatunjiyearwood@gmail.com and most recently, a websitewww.teespring.com/TADOW1.  Olatunji sought to make it clear that this person has no involvement whatsoever in his career or management on any level.

Yearwood will release his first album he’s titled, “Awakening,” on January 20th 2016. The 20-track album will include collaborations, which the artiste prefers to hold near to him for now. He however revealed that some of the music has taken him back to his Calypso roots .
