Tipped to be the next Pharrell Williams of Trinidad and Tobago, Mical Teja- a 24-year-old artist, producer and songwriter, has unleashed a song called ‘Mash Up’ that has been blowing up the airwaves. Additionally, his collaborative single, with Viking Ding Dong, called, “Horning First” is fast becoming an anthem. It’s really not surprising. He’s the songwriter behind songs like ‘Waves’ sung by Machel Montano and ‘Workout’ collaboratively done a few years ago by Kees Dieffenthaller and Nailah Blackman.

In April last year, as the Covid-19 pandemic presented great cause for concern and stipulated restriction, Teja gave the world some advice in music. “Strength of God” emerged, offering some spiritual guidance to those who felt depressed by the global situation. Now, fast forward to 2021, and the young music professional remains focused and willing. He has expressed, with great humility, a desire to keep learning and growing, something that could only auger well for him, no doubt!

Speaking on Red96.7FM on Wednesday morning, Teja said he believed it was essential for him to expand his skillset as a producer and songwriter, explaining that even now, he views himself as a transitioning artist. Teja along with Ding Dong have been selected among the list of finalists for this year’s virtual International Soca Monarch Competition.
