Even as Machel Montano continues to record overseas, Liz Montano is busy in Trinidad with several projects ahead of the artiste’s 33rd year in the business. The Montano family of musicians, inclusive of their HD team, have been a major part of the Carnival business across the Caribbean and the world for many years, so it was only fitting that Mrs. Montano give her view on the National Carnival Commission’s announcement of the all clear for Carnival 2015. “I’m always positive. I just didn’t feel a decision on whether carnival should be shut down or not, should have been made so far in advance,” said Mrs. Montano. She told us that she is the type of person who studies actualities versus possibilities and added that she is optimistic that by December medicinal treatments will be  ready to treat Ebola patients. “I believe that by December things will be under control,” she said confidently.

Christmas a big time of the year in Trinidad, we asked Mrs. Montano what her celebrations and preparations are usually like. Surprisingly, the mother of two boys said she’s not one to get involved in the commercial aspect of the season. “It’s a time we look forward to spending together. You know Machel is always traveling and Marcus is a pilot. My husband runs Eco tours in Toco and my grandchildren live overseas, so I look forward to spending quality time with family. We don’t get caught up in too many purchases and that sort of thing,” she explained.

Machel Montano is readying himself to defend both the Road March and Power Soca Monarch titles in Trinidad and Tobago’s 2015 carnival season. According to his mother, he also has a lot of great plans for the celebration of his 33rd year in the business of soca, come next year. Mrs. Montano said a team of managers are now in Machel’s corner and she is specifically working on preparations for several projects in the season. She also revealed that Machel’s name is in the running for three awards, among them, the Soul Train award for Best International Song.
