Anthony Bourdain visited and documented the happenings in Trinidad and Tobago just about two years ago. His reporting was met with some resistance by the people of T&T, many of whom found it to be unbalanced. The Syrian community in T&T also took a bit of tongue lashing from the public at large when one member of the community was recorded saying the Syrian community which he said accounts for 1% of the population, is the most powerful community in T&T.

The energy surrounding Barbados’ annually anticipated Crop Over fun, was no different this year. Despite the absence of the Bajan pop princess, Rihanna on the island, CropOver was filled with smiles, good vibes and even acclaimed female celebs, loved world over and definitely in the Caribbean.

Bajan Soca Queen, Alison Hinds represented as she always does, donning a one piece costume that did her body absolute justice. She was all smiles, soaking in the hot Caribbean sun, parading the route and at one point, taking a wine with fellow soca entertainer, Sekon Sta, atop a music truck, as you would’ve seen above.

Nailah Blackman was picture perfect for CropOver.

Annually, many make their way over to Barbados for Cropover. The fete circuit, many agree, is becoming quite similar to the Trinidad and Tobago carnival fete vibe, with many all inclusive events offering true carnival bliss to fetters on that island.

Rihanna was not at Cropover this year.

Over the past few weeks, a number of Soca stars thrilled soca lovers in Barbados, among them, Shal Marshall, Patrice Roberts and Nailah Blackman. Blackman was even a part of the Kadooment day fun, sharing her sexy physique, all dolled up in her costume provided by Khepri Kulture, with social media fans. The ‘Sokah’ singer who recently appeared as a guest on Canada’s ‘Your Morning Show’, was in her glee to say the least, having been spotted in the company of her Jamaican sister, Shenseea, at one point. The two have become best buds since recording ‘Baddish’ together last year.

Rihanna is likely to pop up on the Copover scene next year. The internationally acclaimed singer, actress and businesswoman has been working on what Rolling Stone reported to be two albums, soon to be released.
