Popular Jamaican artiste Tessanne Chin’s ballad Love Suicide, has debuted at number 30 on the Adult R&B Airplay chart. It is the first song by a Jamaican artiste to make that Billboard list.

It’s the first time since 2014 that ‘The Voice’ winner has hit the Billboard charts. Her other Billboard accolades include her cover of Whitney Houston’s ‘I Have Nothing’, her cover of Simon and Garfunkel’s ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’  and her take on The Beatles’ ‘Let It Be,’ which she performed while on her stint on the NBC competition in 2014. She moved on to capture hearts and score a tremendous win on the show.

Then there’s globally respected reggae artiste, Sizzla. Kalonji’s  latest album, 876, is his 26th entry on the Billboard Reggae Album chart and it debuted at #3, his highest charter to date. Sizzla has also charted Billboard in the past over two dozen times with his last album in 2014 ‘Radical’ also charted.

Two weeks ago, Trinidad and Tobago’s own Machel Montano peaked at #5 on Billboard’s reggae chart with his album ‘Monk Evolution’. The Taipan peaked at #37 on the Dance/Dance Electronic Digital Billboard chart with’One Wine’ – a collaboration done with Jamaica’s Sean Paul and globe trotting DJ unit, Major Lazer.

Meanwhile, Bajan sensation Rihanna continues to dominate, holding steady at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with her single ‘Work’ which features Canadian rapper, Drake. It’s Rihanna’s 14th #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Machel Montano’s proving to be a stand up guy. You know how some companies hate giving refunds?…well, seems like the Monk and his cohorts at Tribe Carnival, understanding of the current climate, and the global economic effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, are extending an olive branch to fetters.

In a YouTube message posted last week, Machel is heard explaining why the inaugural Melee cruise, which was originally carded to sail in May 2021, has been pushed back.

He said plans are still ongoing, but explained that for those who have been strongly impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, forcing them to reconsider sailing with the Melee family, refunds would be afforded.
