Trinidad born international megastar, Nicki Minaj is one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential people in 2016. Minaj, born Onika Maharaj, remains in a state of disbelief over the accomplishment it seems, the artiste on Thursday night Instagram to post, “Won’t get over it. God is always working. Be careful,” beneath an image that showed her cover photo of the magazine blown up and strung high for all to see.

It’s definitely big news, TIME Magazine being the 11th most circulated magazine in the United States. A feature article written by Minaj’s musical mentor and friend, rapper Lil Wayne, reads, “I always wanted more for my artists and saw Nicki’s potential from the first moment I laid eyes on her. She’s reached far beyond everything I would have imagined. Man, she’s so influential and doing all the right things. She’s an icon, a boss and a role model to all these young girls out here on how to do it the right way. Her work ethic speaks volumes and has yielded these results. The scary thing is she’s still going. Ha! Nicki Minaj will go down as one of the best to do it in the history of music.”

Nicki Minaj is TIME magazine's lone female rapper on the 2016 list of Influential People.

Nicki Minaj is TIME magazine’s lone female rapper on the 2016 list of Influential People.

Nicki who also stars in Barbershop – The Next Cut, has been documenting her excitement over the TIME achievement, via social media in recent days. TIME Magazine in its digital feature on the rapper was informed of two goals she set for herself. “Two of the things that I wanted to leave behind is I write my own raps. A man doesn’t have write down your thoughts. You’re intelligent to write down your own thoughts. And number two, I would become a mogul.”

Other people who’ve made it to this year’s list include, Jamaica’s star sprinter, Usain Bolt, Kendrick Lamar, Taraji P Henson, Donald Trump, Caitlyn Jenner, Adele, Leonardo Di Caprio and US President Barack Obama. Beyonce Knowles, despite much media buzz in the past few months, did not make the TIME magazine list.
