Devon Matthews with his DJ of 18 years, Shot Master J.

Matthews lived a blessed and beautiful life. The sentiments echoed by members of the entertainment fraternity, have been overwhelming to say the least- all positive and consoling. Matthews had touched just about everyone in a special way. His DJ and friend for the past 18 years, Shot Master J, said:

“18yrs as a team we did it,no one could imagine what I feeling right now. I introduced him to radio on 98.9 when he was still in his teens because he had that drive and passion I was looking for in a mic man RIP brother and may god bless your soul and your mommy.”

A part of Bunji Garlin and Fay Ann Lyons’ Asylum Vikings, for the past year or so, Matthews had made a strong impact on the team at Asylum. Bunji Garlin, in a brief chat with Ebuzztt this morning simply said, “Tomorrow really is promised to no one. Gosh, this is tough.” On social media, Fay Ann Lyons said :

“RIP my brother. Lord knows we will miss you. #journey… you have to walk the rest without us.”

On Saturday night, Devon’s last post read:

“One life to live and I’m gonna live it .
