EBUZZTTReggae crooner, Tarrus Riley’s Instagram status yesterday read, “F*CK CANCER”. It was indication enough that something had happened. The artiste’s 68 year old father, Jimmy Riley who’s musical hits included, “Love & Devotion”, “Rougher Yet”, “My Woman’s Love”, and “Black Mother’s Prayer”, had succumbed to his battle with the illness.
Jamaican Grammy Award winners, Morgan Heritage today posted the the sentiment on their Instagram page, saying, “We have cancer so much we have so many friends and family to this disease JAH know see and know strength and power to our brother @tarrusrileyja be strong Jimmy Riley your spirit lives on what a voice so unique”.
Earlier this afternoon, Trinidad and Tobago soca artiste, Machel Montano posted a video teaser on his Instagram page, signaling that the video for his collaborative single with Riley, ‘Memory’, would be released tomorrow. It would seem a fitting sentiment, the elder Riley having played a major role in his son’s career and by all means, creating a lot of memories over the years.
